About DESE

The Department of Electronic Systems Engineering (DESE) had its inception in 1974 through the Indo-Swiss collaborations and called the Centre for Electronics Design and Technology (CEDT). Over the years the Center has evolved into a full Department and in 2012 Center was renamed as Department of Electronics System Engineering (DESE).  The department continues to have a strong industry focus along with strong fundamental and applied research within an encompassing theme ‘from atoms to systems’, reflecting the various research areas in the department. The department faculty have very strong industry interactions through consultancy, sponsored Masters’/PhD research and open-ended industry relevant research. The word “system” in the department’s name, resonates well with the approach that has been followed in the department over the years, i.e., the approach of building use-case prototypes for validating novel ideas all-the-way from devices to systems. In essence, this captures the core competences of the department and accurately reflects the spirit of the activities in the department.

DESE invites applications from exceptionally bright and motivated individuals with a passion for fundamental and applied research, drive towards inventions and technology-based applications, and a strong commitment to teaching for the position of Assistant Professor in disciplines related to broad areas of electronics science and engineering. Following is a list of broad research topics that our department aims for expansion.

  1. Integrated Circuits and Systems towards SoCs
  2. Quantum Information Science and Technology
  3. Data Storage: memory devices to storage systems
  4. Artificial Intelligence Systems
  5. Cyber Physical Systems
  6. Bio-mechanical/electrical Systems
  7. Power electronics and clean energy systems
  8. Electronic Packaging and thermal design
